Sunday's Soul Food and Catering & Concessions
Let's Eat
Allow me to introduce myself "Chevy"
Every great recipe has a story, and every great business has a purpose. When people ask me why I named my business Sunday's Soul Food & Catering, my answer is simple:
"I was born on a Sunday, with a smile."
My name is Chevy, and I am the proud owner of Sunday's Soul Food & Catering and Concessions. The name isn't just a brand it's a reflection of who I am. Sundays have always represented family, faith, love, fellowship, and the comfort of gathering around a table filled with home-cooked meals. That's exactly the experience I want every customer to have.
My love for cooking began long before I ever stepped into a professional kitchen. Every summer, I traveled to Inverness, Mississippi, where I spent priceless time with my great grandmother, Arlee Goff. Those summers became the foundation of everything I know about Southern cooking.
My grandmother didn't just teach us recipes she taught us a way of life.
Long before "farm-to-table" became a popular phrase, that was simply how we lived. We planted vegetables in the garden, harvested fresh produce, gathered eggs, and learned to prepare our own meats from start to finish. Every meal required hard work, patience, and love. Those lessons taught me to respect food, appreciate where it comes from, and understand that the best meals cannot be rushed.
Some of my most treasured memories are standing beside my great grandmother in her kitchen, watching her effortlessly make homemade biscuits from scratch and bake what I still believe is the best peach cobbler I've ever tasted. Even today, I find myself trying to recreate those recipes not just for their incredible flavor, but because every bite reminds me of home, family, and the woman who first inspired my passion for cooking.
As I grew older, my passion followed me into a professional kitchen.
I had the incredible privilege of serving as the Executive Sous Chef at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church alongside Chef Donald Wilson 1998-2003. Together, we prepared meals for Bishop Eddie L. Long, his family, executive staff, special guests, conferences, and ministry events.
Working in a high-volume kitchen taught me discipline, organization, teamwork, consistency, and excellence. It was there that I realized cooking wasn't simply something I loved it was the career I wanted to pursue. That experience inspired me to continue my culinary education and refine the skills that had been planted years earlier in my grandmother's kitchen.
History of Sunday's Soul Food Catering & Concessions
Today, Sunday's Soul Food & Catering brings the heart of Mississippi to Las Vegas.
Our mission is simple: serve food that feels like Sunday dinner at Great Grandma's house.
Every recipe is rooted in Southern tradition while embracing fresh ideas and bold new flavors. We believe comfort food should nourish both the body and the soul, which is why every dish is prepared with quality ingredients, attention to detail, and plenty of love.
Our menu celebrates authentic Southern favorites, including tender homestyle meatloaf, crispy fried chicken, smothered pork chops, slow-smoked meats, creamy macaroni and cheese, candied yams, black-eyed peas, buttery cornbread, seasoned greens simmered low and slow with smoked turkey, fresh seafood specialties, and many other comforting classics inspired by generations of Mississippi cooking.
No Southern meal would be complete without dessert.
Our signature peach cobbler pays tribute to my great grandmother's unforgettable recipe, bringing together sweet, juicy peaches beneath a perfectly baked golden crust. It remains one of the most meaningful items on our menu because it represents the woman who first taught me that food is one of the greatest ways to show love.
As Sunday's Soul Food & Catering continues to grow, so does our vision.
Our full service catering and concessions operation is scheduled to officially launch in 2027, bringing our Southern flavors to festivals, community events, corporate gatherings, weddings, family reunions, and private celebrations throughout the Las Vegas area.
Until then, I am accepting private onsite bookings for intimate gatherings of up to 20 guests. These personalized dining experiences allow me to prepare fresh meals onsite while giving guests the warmth, hospitality, and personal attention that have always been at the heart of Sunday's Soul Food.
At Sunday's Soul Food & Catering, we don't simply prepare meals.
We preserve family traditions.
We honor Southern heritage.
We celebrate faith, fellowship, and community.
Most importantly, we serve every plate with the same love my great grandmother poured into every meal she prepared all those years ago in Inverness, Mississippi.
From my great grandmother's kitchen...to yours...
Welcome to Sunday's Soul Food & Catering, where every meal tastes like Sunday.

From My Kitchen to Yours
One of the greatest joys of cooking is sharing a meal with others. Since we can't always gather around the same table, I wanted to bring a little piece of my kitchen into yours.
Over the years, I have collected recipes inspired by my childhood in Mississippi, family traditions, my culinary education, and my experiences as an Executive Sous Chef. Every recipe tells a story and reflects my love for Southern comfort food, fresh ingredients, and bold flavors.
As I prepare for the official launch of Sunday's Soul Food & Catering in 2027, I wanted to give my readers something special.
I'm excited to share 30 of my favorite recipes from my cookbook in hopes that if I can't prepare your favorite menu item personally, you'll accept the challenge of creating it in your own kitchen.
These recipes represent the heart of my cooking philosophy—combining time-honored Southern traditions with fresh ingredients and modern flavors. Whether you're preparing a family dinner, hosting friends, or simply trying something new, I hope each recipe inspires confidence, creativity, and a love for homemade meals.
Every dish has been selected because it holds a special place in my heart. Some are family favorites passed down through generations, while others are recipes I've developed throughout my culinary journey. From comforting entrées and seafood favorites to irresistible side dishes and homemade desserts, there's something here for every occasion.
My hope is that these recipes become more than just meals.
I hope they become traditions.
Gather your family around the table, invite your friends, turn on your favorite music, and enjoy the simple pleasure of cooking from scratch. Food has a remarkable way of bringing people together, creating memories, and expressing love without saying a word.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your kitchen.
I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I've enjoyed creating and sharing them with you.
Happy Cooking,
Chevy
